The process can be quite intricate due to the slotted design. I've found sand casting to work pretty well.

yes, sand casting is a good way to go. Also, the type of stainless steel matters too. Some types lend themselves better to detailed casting.

I've found that using a mold with pre-made slots can really help. You'll get a cleaner finish that way.
