Hi, I'm trying to weld stainless steel at home and I want to know what type of tungsten is best to use. Can someone advise?
I've always used 2% Thoriated (red). It has great electron emission and handles higher amperages whilst maintaining a stable arc.
I thought Thoriated types are radioactive? I personally prefer Ceriated (grey). It's suitable for Dc welding and gets the job done.
My personal preference leans more towards Lanthanated (blue). For me, it strikes easily and is really stable. The longevity is also far superior compared to the others.
