Precision casting, called also investment casting, is a lost wax casting procedure widely used for producing ferrous and nonferrous alloy elements. Since precision casting uses expendable patterns and ceramic shells, it is great for sophisticated and detailed part schemes. The procedure provides sophisticated elements that are difficult, if not impossible, to manufacture, fabricate or cast. Models include inside ways and ports in a valve body, curved vanes of an impeller and inside cooling routes in a transformer blade.
